Consider breakfast THE most important meal of the day, and never walk out the door without eating it.  Breakfast jump starts your metabolism first thing and gets you on your way to burning more calories throughout the day.  By skipping breakfast, your body goes into survival mode slowing down your metabolism and conserving energy by way of fat storage.  Your body will stay in this mode until fuel becomes available for energy.

A large number of people skip breakfast in order to control calories, but this often leads to overeating  later in the day.  This can be very detrimental to your weight loss goals.  Eating a large amount of calories late in the day stimulates insulin production and triggers fat storage- something you definitely don’t want to happen.  By eating several smaller meals throughout the day, you keep your insulin levels steady, and you prevent overeating late in the day.  A study by The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition proved that people who ate meals and snacks every 2 – 3 hours ate less calories overall and also burned more calories than eating irregularly.

So eat your breakfast every morning as a part of your successful weight loss plan.  Be creative when making your breakfast.  You don’t need to limit breakfast to eggs and cereal.  You can eat anything that will fit into your weight loss plan.  I’ve even eaten leftovers from dinner the night before for breakfast the next morning.  Whatever you do, eat breakfast to jump start your calorie burning for the day – you will feel better all day long.
